Qushiyot Israel Education Fellowship Application: 2018-2019 - Dalet Track

A partnership between The Jewish Education Project and Makom

Qushiyot is a 12-month network experience, offering an opportunity to connect with colleagues of diverse perspectives and to partake in a range of learning opportunities to spur innovation. It is a comprehensive, open approach to Israel education that embraces the vibrant complexity of Israel.

  • Benefit from individual coaching and professional development for teaching Israel in part-time settings to teens or pre-teens.

  • Experience our intensive 8-day workshop in Israel, based around Makom's Four Hatikvah Questions (4HQ) method.
            - Develop contemporary, meaningful, and relevant Israel curriculum
            - Learn how to build support from key lay and professional leadership
            - Address controversial issues and your own relationship to Israel

Important Details and Dates

In 2018-2019 we will run two cohorts, one beginning in June (Gimmel) and one beginning in November (Dalet).  Applications are presently open for Dalet only.


Dalet Cohort is from November 2018 - November 2019*

  • November 7, 2018 : full-day training in Manhattan
  • February 11-18, 2019: intensive 8-day workshop in Israel
  • March 2019: full-day workshop in Manhattan (date TBA) 
  • June 2019: full-day workshop in Manhattan (date TBA)
  • Up to five 1-hour coaching consultations throughout cohort experience
  • $500 participant contribution covers three NYC-based workshops, coaching sessions, 8-day training in Israel (including full program, double-occupancy accommodations, and meals)**

**All land costs will be completely subsidized. Qushiyot covers 50% of roundtrip flights (up to max of $850) pending funding.    



Space is limited! Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Please note that Qushiyot is open only to educators from part-time Jewish settings such as congregations and JCC's, from Long Island, the 5 boroughs of NYC and Westchester.


Please note that upon acceptance, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required to hold your spot. The deposit will be directed to the $500 participation fee.

One professional leader and one lay leader are expected to support the educator's participation in this initiative. All three of you are expected to attend the first half of the 1-day workshop on November 7th.

By submitting my application I am confirming that:


  • I am an employee of a Jewish organization (congregation, JCC, or other part-time educational setting) based in the 5 boroughs of  New York, Westchester or Long Island
  • I have spent a significant time in Israel (more than 10 days)
  • I have current or future responsibility for teaching Israel at my organization to students grades 5-12 and have a desire to upgrade the Israel education at the organization
  • I have permission from my supervisor at my current organization for full participation in the Qushiyot Israel Education Fellowship or as explained "no" in the question above
  • My organization will cover the $500 program fee or I will cover the cost by other means
  • I understand that Qushiyot will cover 50% of the roundtrip flight to Israel up to $850 (pending funding)
  • If accepted into the Qushiyot Israel Education Fellowship, I understand that I will attend all workshops and components during the Dalet Track: October 2018 - October 2019

        • February 11-18, 2019: intensive 8-day workshop in Israel 
        • November 2018, March 2019 and June 2019: full-day workshops in Manhattan (exact dates TBA)
