The RootOne Team

Welcome to RootOne!

We're so happy to have you here. Thank you for starting the application process to RootOne LLC. We help connect thousands of Jewish teens to Israel by lowering the financial barrier to participation in immersive summer trips to Israel and by investing in the educational quality of those experiences. We’ve helped bring over 13,000 teens to Israel, and we’re so happy to welcome you into the community.

About Us: Seeded by a generous gift from The Marcus Foundation, and powered by The Jewish Education Project, RootOne provides major subsidies for trip participants (called RootOne Vouchers) and collaborates with trip providers to maximize the educational impact of these experiences. A RootOne Voucher, valued at $3,000, will be provided upon the successful completion of the prerequisites laid out in this application. Please note that if you are eligible for a RootOne Voucher, all funds will be transferred directly to your selected trip provider and utilized to reduce the cost of your trip by $3,000.
Money will NOT be sent directly to individuals. Vouchers are limited and are not guaranteed.

Next Steps: As part of your RootOne Voucher application, you will fill out a bit about yourself and agree to policies related to participation in early learning and research, and completing the trip. You and a parent will also need to sign and submit some waivers and permissions. We estimate completing the application itself to take about 20 minutes. We ask questions about you both to help us understand our incoming class of voucher participants and to confirm that you are eligible for a voucher. If you land on an ineligibility page, which you think is in error, please write to your trip provider or to us directly at info@rootone.org.

We're already a big fan of yours, and can't wait for summer 2024.

Requirements Page 1: Early Experience

This year, through RootOne’s educational technology system, RootOne Voucher applicants will be required to complete 18 nekudot (points or credits) worth of Early Experience before they go to Israel in order to become eligible for a $3,000 RootOne Voucher.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS: All eligible RootOne Voucher applicants must complete at least 18 nekudot worth of Early Experiences with their Trip Provider on RootOne's digital Teen Portal four weeks before the departure date. However, if Trip Providers are facilitating compulsory Early Experiences after this point, teen participants must be registered for those experiences by four weeks prior to departure to remain eligible for a RootOne Voucher.

If an applicant does not complete 18 nekudot within the agreed upon timeline (four weeks prior to departure, unless Trip Provider Partners are offering compulsory Early Experience courses after that date), they will not be awarded a $3,000 RootOne Voucher.

Teens will be assigned specific courses by their Trip Provider and/or will be able to select workshops from a curated list created by the Trip Provider and RootOne Educational Team. Teens may receive nekudot for certain pre-approved Israel education programming at conventions, overnights, or summer camp prior to their trip.

Teens will receive an e-mail notification with a link to register for the Teen Portal after completion of this application. Once they register for the Teen Portal, they will be emailed information to start five of their 18 nekudot through an Israeli pen pal program and they will receive another follow-up email when Early Experiences are available on the Teen Portal.

CREDIT SYSTEM DETAILS: Simply put, 18 nekudot equals approximately 8-9 hours of early experience programming and once completed, eligible teens will be awarded a $3,000 RootOne Voucher. RootOne will grant the subsidy directly to the respective Trip Provider to lower the cost of the applicant’s trip to Israel.

All early experience content will be assigned nekudot, or point/credit value, that takes into consideration the length, as well as the educational rigor and depth, of the content itself.  Early experience programs will utilize one or more of the following formats: online (live) workshops, on-demand workshops, and/or in-person (live) workshops. Most often, 30 minutes will equal  1 credit.

Requirements Page 2: Participation in Research and Evaluation

Another requirement of the RootOne voucher is enthusiastic participation in our efforts to understand our participants and their experiences.
RootOne Voucher applicants agree to complete the pre-trip, post-trip, and trip satisfaction surveys and to opt-into interviews and/or focus groups if available. RootOne Voucher applicants agree to complete all evaluations (including but not limited to pre and post Israel trip surveys, interviews and/or focus groups) requested of them by RootOne’s third party consultants.

Requirements Page 3: Trip Participation

The text below outlines the requirements surrounding completing your RootOne trip.
RootOne Voucher applicants understand and agree to attend and fully participate in a 2024 summer trip to Israel with an eligible Trip Provider, according to the trip requirements and conditions of participant’s selected Trip Provider (the “Israel Trip”). RootOne Voucher applicants agree to fully engage and participate in all expected activities of the Israel Trip.  If a RootOne Voucher applicant fails to attend, participate in, and complete an Israel Trip, a RootOne Voucher may be rescinded. Any exceptions to the foregoing shall be made on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of RootOne staff.
